AD Ports Group Buys 19.3% of Egypt's Alexandria Container Terminal Operator
Abu Dhabi's AD Ports acquired Saudi Egyptian Investment Company's stake in EGX-listed ALCN for over AED 1bn, then moved toward a controlling position.
On 20 November 2025, AD Ports Group acquired the Saudi Egyptian Investment Company's 19.3% stake in Alexandria Container and Cargo Handling Company (ALCN), one of Egypt's largest container-terminal operators, in a deal valued at more than AED 1bn (about $278m). ALCN runs two Mediterranean terminals with combined capacity of 1.5m TEUs.
In December 2025, AD Ports announced a mandatory tender offer to lift its holding toward majority control at EGP 22.99 per share, expected to complete in the second quarter of 2026 subject to Egyptian regulatory approvals. The move strengthens Abu Dhabi's position on the Asia-Europe trade corridor.
