Saudi digital wallet barq went live with Singapore-based Thunes, enabling its customers to send real-time international remittances to mobile wallets and bank accounts worldwide.
Saudi fintech barq has gone live with a partnership with Singapore-based cross-border payments company Thunes, enabling barq customers to send international remittances in real time. The collaboration, initially announced in 2024, has now moved into live operation.
Through the partnership, barq customers can send money to billions of mobile wallets and bank accounts around the world via Thunes' Direct Global Network. The service targets millions of consumers across Saudi Arabia, one of the world's largest remittance-sending markets.
Thamer Alharbi, barq's Director of International Partnerships, said the collaboration had moved from vision to reality. The launch aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 programme to digitise payments and expand access to cross-border financial services.
