Egypt's Telda Partners Mastercard to Merge Everyday Payments With Investment Access
The Cairo consumer-fintech and the card network unveil a single experience that links spending, saving and investing for Egyptian users.
Egyptian consumer fintech Telda has partnered with Mastercard to introduce what the two companies describe as a unified financial experience, connecting everyday payments with investment access in a single app for Egyptian users.
The collaboration brings Telda's spending, saving and money-movement features together with investment products, letting customers manage day-to-day transactions and grow their money through one interface. Mastercard's payments infrastructure and network underpin the card and transaction layer of the offering.
Telda, founded in 2021, launched as a consumer banking and payments app and has since expanded its product suite as Egypt's regulators open the door to fintech-led brokerage and investment services. The company earlier secured approvals that allowed it to broaden beyond payments, and it has been building toward a model that blends transactional banking with wealth features aimed at a young, digitally native customer base.
Egypt's fintech sector has become one of the most closely watched in the region, with a new generation of apps competing to become the default financial home for millions of consumers who previously relied on cash and bank certificates. Tie-ups with global networks such as Mastercard give local players reach, compliance support and the rails needed to scale card issuance and cross-border functionality.
For Mastercard, the partnership deepens its position in a market where digital payment adoption has accelerated sharply, and aligns with a broader regional push to bring more consumers into formal, app-based financial services.
