Saudi Ticketing Platform webook.com Acquires Portugal's SmartMove in First European Push

webook.com, the Saudi ticketing and entertainment platform that rose to prominence managing Riyadh Season events, has acquired Portugal-based SmartMove, an event-technology company that provides ticketing infrastructure, membership management and fan-engagement systems for major football clubs, the Portuguese Football Federation and the country's professional league.

The deal represents webook.com's first expansion into Europe and its first operational base in the European sports-technology market. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The company said the acquisition combines its ticketing operations and AI-powered anti-scalping technology with SmartMove's established relationships across European sports organisations. Portugal was chosen as the entry point for its strong football culture, growing tourism sector and advanced digital infrastructure.

The move builds on webook.com's rapid growth since launch, during which it has sold millions of tickets and expanded operations across several countries.
