Bahrain's Calo Enters UK by Acquiring Fresh Fitness Food and Detox Kitchen
The Gulf meal-subscription startup made its first move outside the GCC, absorbing two British meal-delivery brands to launch Calo UK.

In April 2025, Bahrain-founded, Saudi-headquartered foodtech Calo announced its first expansion outside the GCC, acquiring UK meal-delivery brands Fresh Fitness Food and Detox Kitchen. Fresh Fitness Food's former head, Caspar Rose, was named general manager of Calo UK, with the two brands integrated into the company's operations.
Calo, founded in 2019, operates across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kwwait, Qatar and Bahrain and delivered more than 10 million meals in 2024. The deal followed a $25m funding tranche in December 2024, with the company signalling ambitions for a Saudi IPO.
