Careem is winding down most of its consumer services in Saudi Arabia, retaining only its Rides and Bikes offerings, according to reporting on the super app's Saudi operations. Co-founder and Saudi chairman Abdulla Elyas described the move as a 'strategic pause' on quick-commerce, including grocery delivery, roughly a year after launching 'Careem Market' in Riyadh in April 2025.
Reports indicated the departure of more than 60 employees across operations, marketing and supply-chain functions. The retreat reflects mounting cost pressure and intensifying competition in Saudi quick-commerce from Amazon, noon and Keeta. Careem's super-app business is majority-owned by e&.
