UAE Agritech Maalexi Raises $2.8m Oversubscribed Round Led by Saudi Insurer Tawuniya
The Dubai-based agri-fintech will use the capital to build out a regulated, tokenised agricultural commodity exchange across its markets.
Maalexi, the UAE-based agricultural trade platform, has closed an oversubscribed $2.8 million round led by Saudi-listed insurer Tawuniya, with participation from its pre-Series A lead investor Global Ventures.
Founded in 2021, Maalexi operates a verification and risk-management layer for physical agricultural trade, using AI, IoT and blockchain to standardise and settle cross-border transactions. The company says it has built the infrastructure over roughly 36 months of live operations across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India and the United States.
The new funding is earmarked for expanding what Maalexi describes as a regulated agricultural exchange built on tokenised real-world assets, aimed at improving transparency and efficiency in commodity trading.
The equity round follows a shariah-compliant credit facility of up to $20 million that Maalexi secured from Amwal Capital Partners in August 2025.
